New! Kinesis
|
What is Kinesis? Kinesis is a training modality designed to focus on balance, flexibility and stability. Each of these elements is trained together to optimize your physical strength and endurance.
Why is Kinesis important? We feel that this is a significant addition to our YMCA because it will be so relevant to maintain optimal movement through the aging process. As we age, we lose our flexibility and ability to decelerate our own body weight, leading to possible injury. Kinesis training helps us to increase our ability to maintain balance with movement, maintain and optimize our flexibility, increase core strength so we can stabilize and protect the spine, and increase our overall body strength and endurance.
How does training with Kinesis equipment differ from other training methods? When you train with traditional training equipment you are usually supported by a bench and perform movements in isolation. Kinesis training emphasizes movement and applies the principle of integrated movement: how we live in every day life or perform during activities that we enjoy.
Why is training in integrated movement more beneficial than regular training methods? When you train utilizing an integrated approach you are training muscles to work together. Training muscles in integrated groups rather than in isolation enhances ones ability to perform tasks with greater ease.
How is the class designed? The class is designed to give you maximum results in minimum time. The class is set up as small group personal training. With only 4 participants in the class, you will receive indiviual attention from the instructor. In just 30 minutes, you will work up a sweat, feel the burn and stretch it out all in one class.
When are classes? New classes begin this summer along with Personal Training Kinesis sessions.

Group Ride will take you through slow climbs, short sprints and recovery spins that present no barriers to coordination or boredom. Group Ride is particularly popular since it targets the lower body. It also is a low-impact workout causing minimal stress on knees and joints.
